Thalassery Fort
Thalassery Fort was built by the British in 1700 after identifying Thalassery as their commercial capital in the region. The Fort is situated on a small hill called Tiruvellapadkunnu. It was later strengthened in 1708.
Built with laterite in a square shape, the fort has very high walls and strong bastions. It was here that Haider Ali's captain got imprisoned. The famous St.John's Anglican church is located behind this fort.
The fort is situated 22km away from Kannur town.
